I believe that Art (as material) is objective, but transmits subjectivity to the viewer. It is this relationship that I am concerned with in my work, and how I, as an artist, can have an effect on the viewer. The purity of silence implies that art can free itself “from the prison of things.” Through the process of art making, I am trying to evoke that silence, not as means of escapism, but rather an accentuation of reality, and the freedom from materiality that ensues in such stillness, not only for the piece, but the viewer as well. In turn there is a relationship taking place between artwork and viewer in which, upon interaction, both transcend their own material being, and the reality is the experience. In working through a medium, my work has become a way of trying to articulate the abstract dimension of the soul—to furthermore explore, refine, and discover reality, as well as the deep space of eternity, while also dealing with issues of faith, doubt, love, and despair in a "post-post-modern time."

I do not regard any artwork to be autonomous for the sole fact that it has been created, it exists, and points back to its creator. In this same way, I believe that no one person is solely material, but is also something extra. It is the notion to query, the very urge for revelation, and what this means, or reflects, on art making, and more broadly, our existence that spikes an interest. The question of “why,” as it were, seems to set the stage for every artist and the Art World in general. So we are left to our own algorithms: to seek, question, and discover something. And from an artist’s perspective, we are to reveal. At the end we are again faced with the objective and subjective: the connotative and denotative: the material and metaphysical. It is this point that leads me to think that amongst the objectivity, there is subjectivity to be transmitted, and thus received.
